BALANCING THE REQUIREMENTS

COURSE OVERVIEW

 

This contemporary course provides a practical approach to understanding the key elements of compliance with regulations and accreditation standards.  This course is a must for therapists and administrators in all settings including, hospitals, private practices, long term care, home health, alternate site providers, consultants who are developing strategies to incorporate tools that promote success in their solutions to compliance, documentation, billing, marketing and staff development challenges.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

 

  • Understand the differences between regulation and accrediation

  • Understand the potential for fraud and abuse in the delivery of rehabiliation services

  • Be able to able to correctly identify the correct CPT coding for outpatient services across payer groups

  • Understand the requirements for competency assessment as it relates to compliance

  • Be able to discuss the core elements of the HIPAA requirements as they relate to therapy practice

 

 

TARGET AUDIENCE

 

This program is recommended for those who desire an understanding of the key element of compliance with regulations and accreditation standards.  It is appropriate for all levels of therapy administrators, mangers, leaders and staff who must define and defend the provision of therapy services by professional therapists.  This course is a must for therapists and administrators in all settings including, hospitals, private practices, long term care, home health, alternate site providers, consultants who are developing strategies to incorporate tools that promote success in their solutions to compliance, documentation, billing, marketing and staff development and recruiting challenges.

 

SPEAKERS

 

Angela M. Phillips, PT is owner of Images, an educational and consulting service for rehab professionals.  She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, School of Allied Health Professions and has over 25 years experience as a therapist, manager, administrator and educator including extensive experience as a speaker on quality improvement, customer service, documentation requirements, clinical application for physical agents, preparation for JCAHO and management issues.  Her lecture style combines current research and educational information with examples of realistic and practical clinical applications. Ms. Phillips is author of “The Desktop Consultant: The Rehab Department’s Guide to JCAHO” and has written a number of articles for The Resource, the official publication of the SOA.
